Sydney Davis, as Founder/Executive Director of Girls on the Run (GOTR) NJ East works diligently to help GOTR fulfill their mission: “to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident with a curriculum that creatively integrates running. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.”
She helps girls recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Under her leadership, trained coaches guide small teams through a research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-8th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.
Sydney sees a strong correlation between her work with WOMEN Unlimited and her volunteering with GOTR and sums it up this way: “Empowering young girls through Girls on the Run programs is planting seeds for developing more confident, active and intentional women. Our mission statements are so similar since we are both in service to the higher calling of growing the confidence of women and girls in our communities. Girls on the Run does it through team work, goal setting, mentoring just like our work at WOMEN Unlimited.”
