The WOMEN Unlimited, Inc. Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Program is specifically designed to accelerate the leadership development and effectiveness of high potential mid-level managers with a minimum of seven years experience in a supervisory capacity.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS
The Need to LEAD: Why You, Why Now?
The session sets the stage for a year of leadership reflection
and transformational growth. Participants will meet their LEAD Program
peer group to share individual expectations, workplace challenges and
opportunities, while establishing the foundation for effective peer
coaching and networking. Highlights include initial insight to leadership
style - strengths, excesses, and strategies for success.
The Intentional Leader: Recognizing & Playing to Your Strengths
As an Intentional Leader, participants will begin the process
of recognizing necessary essential skills to become a changed leader
throughout the LEAD Program. Participants have received and will discuss
how to interpret the data in their 360 leadership assessment feedback.
They will review their results for themes, patterns and messages from
themselves and others. Participants will create an Individual Development
Plan (IDP) that plays to her strengths and supports an "Outstanding
Year".
The Leadership Connection: The Power of Alliances
This workshop is designed to introduce the concept of matrix
mentoring, and to give matrix teams the opportunity to discuss goals
and areas of focus for the team. Specific attention is given to team
synergies, development goals, leadership styles and how the team will
interact over the next nine months. Additionally, each peer team will
have their first meeting with their assigned external mentors. *Schedule
permitting: WUI Founder, Jean Otte will conduct a brief afternoon session
to present the WUI Rules for Cultivating Leadership Excellence.
The EQ Rules for the Savvy Leader (virtual workshop)
Aware of their Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Savvy leaders must
learn how to navigate political agendas and personalities in order to
be effective and successful. In this virtual session participants will
review engaging case studies and will discuss the WUI "Rules"
for cultivating leadership excellence and the unwritten rules that can
impact career success in any company.
The Transformational Shift: From Managing to Leading
This session is designed to address the transformational shift
that occurs when moving from being perceived as a strong tactical manager,
to a strategic leader. Ultimately, leadership is both about who you
are and what you do. A leadership framework and tenets are provided,
along with further insights into how style/approach affects your results
and leadership impact.
Leadership Presence: The IT Factor
The quality of "leadership presence" is crucial to
credibility, and therefore the ability to successfully lead others,
inspire confidence, and get what you want in business today. This session
provides a model and strategies for developing and enhancing the critical
qualities and behaviors of Leadership Presence. Targeted practice and
feedback is provided throughout the day, leading to immediate and sustained
improvements in executive presence.
The Power of Priorities: Essential Strategies of a Successful
Leader
This interactive and self-reflective workshop highlights the
skills necessary for a leader to manage multiple demands and use proven
techniques for diminishing barriers to effectiveness including perfectionism,
procrastination & the distractions of technology. Participants will
discover the things they need to stop doing or do differently in order
to "play at a higher level" - both at work and home.
The Influential Leader: Positive Connections for Powerful Results
Influence is a critical skill of leadership - the art and practice
of playing well with others with a higher purpose. This workshop explores
the dynamics of influence and how to prepare for the "influence
table": understanding and managing conflict between parties, balancing
outcomes and relationships, and building trust and connections. Participants
will analyze and develop strategies for real-life situations, and create
a plan to increase their conflict management and influence skills.
Leadership in Action: Making A Difference
This virtual workshop is comprised of a two hour virtual meeting
with all LEAD participants in addition to a full day meeting (in person
or virtually) of the peer teams. The virtual session will provide a
platform for each team to share their progress and gain any coaching
regarding their Changed Leader Experience. In addition, participants
will share best practices for being a successful virtual leader/team
member and will discover techniques to strengthen how they 'show up'
in their virtual business worlds.
Leading Strategically; Thinking Globally
How do you demonstrate your growth of moving from a tactical
leader to a strategic leader? This workshop pulls the development process
together. Through the use of interactive discussion, real business examples,
and growth and innovation through an interactive case study, participants
will set a course for growth and development for the business as a whole,
for the parts and pieces, and for the development of tomorrow's leaders.
A View From The Top
Participants will have the opportunity to hear a panel of senior
executives share their lessons and advice from their own career experiences.
The panel will discuss their career paths, provide insights into being
a savvy leader, and share what they believe are the most important skills
to succeed. Following the panel, participants will reflect on the year
and how they are positioned to respond to business challenges and opportunities
as a result of their LEAD experiences.
The Transformed Leader: Changing the Corporate Landscape
As the LEAD Program comes to a close, participants revisit their
leadership journey - and how they have grown and helped to change their
corporate landscape as a result. In the afternoon, mentors and managers
attend a formal "graduation" ceremony. This event celebrates
and rewards accomplishments and contributions, while highlighting key
leadership learnings.
Reconnect, Reflect and Recommit
To reinforce results from the 12 month program, and to keep
the focus on continuing development, participants come together three
months after graduation to re-engage and discuss ongoing progress. During
this two-hour virtual meeting, participants have an opportunity to renew
their commitment to their own development, refresh their energy and
re-connect with their peer teams. This is an opportunity to capitalize
on the collective wisdom of the group and to revitalize and refocus
commitment to one's own development.
